Bharatanatyam is the most ancient of  all classical dance forms in India.  It originated in  Tamil Nadu, a state in southern India.  The dance uses dramatic facial expressions and body movements to narrate stories from Hindu mythology.  Contemporary Bharatanatyam can also depict other themes.

Today, the beautiful distinctive dance form of  Bharatnatyam has spread to many countries.  Known as the "king of dances," it is appreciated by multinational and multiethnic audiences worldwide.
